On 8 May 2026, the "Pfahlbaubahnhof Süd" project at Twann was officially opened with a small ceremony attended by representatives from the local authorities, SBB, sponsors and the Archaeological Service of the Canton of Bern.

On Saturday, 6 June 2026, from 11.00 am, the official opening of the site will take place as part of a pile-dwelling festival for the whole community at the lakeside entrance to Twann station.

Various information stands and attractions, such as

  • Sample a pile-dwelling-style meal with local ingredients and spices
  • Make your own magic potions
  • Crispy Twanner rolls baked over an open fire
  • A garden featuring the most important food crops from five thousand years ago
  • Grinding flour with traditional millstones
  • Holding archaeological finds in your hands
  • Pile-dwelling Quiz
  • Serious Lego for unexpected and innovative ideas
  • Games for young and old

and much more, will bring the pile-dwelling culture on Lake Biel to life.

The event is organised by the association "Pfahlbau Welterbestätte Twann" in cooperation with the municipality of Twann-Tüscherz.
