UNESCO World Heritage Day 2026 at the "Steinzeitdorf Pestenacker"

Steinzeitdorf Pestenacker

Hauptstr. 100 86947 Weil Ortsteil Pestenacker

The "Steinzeitdorf Pestenacker" is taking part in UNESCO World Heritage Day, which this year has the theme ‘Together for Peace and Understanding’.

The Stone Age Village

The "Steinzeitdorf Pestenacker" brings history to life, inviting visitors to explore and get involved.

Modelled on the prehistoric settlement discovered in 1934, the Stone Age Village is being further expanded and developed. A full-scale reconstruction of a Neolithic dwelling and barn awaits visitors. In the Stone Age garden, you can go on a discovery tour featuring many types of grain and herbs. The Stone Age beehives show how our ancestors harvested honey over 5,500 years ago, and bread is regularly baked in the Stone Age clay oven.

In the visitor pavilion, you can discover tools, weapons, pottery and woven items modelled on Neolithic originals.

The programme for UNESCO World Heritage Day:

13:00–17:00: Presentation of Stone Age textile techniques with textile expert Rita Szeibert

15:00:  guided tour for families
