Short Description
A field of piles and a shallow archaeological layer mark the boundaries of this site, preserved near the shore under shallow water and therefore threatened by erosion. Dendrochronological dating places the first occupation towards the end of the Middle Neolithic period (late Cortaillod, with phases of wood felling between 3572 and 3552 BCE). A second phase of habitation dates from the Late Neolithic period (Auvernier-Cordé, around 2539 BCE). The first surface survey yielded Late Neolithic artefacts, but excavations in 2010 revealed a wide variety of archaeological material (ceramics, stone tools, woodwork, animal remains, etc.) attributed to the Middle Neolithic period. It is possible that the site extends towards the riverbank, into the reed bed and under modern embankments.

Special Features & Highlights
This submerged station is located west of the old town of Morat. It was discovered in the 1880s when the lake level was lowered following the first Jura Water Correction (1868–1891).
