Short Description
This site was discovered in 1971 during agricultural drainage works at the western end of the small lake at Seedorf. According to recent core samples, the site covers an area of approximately 1,200 m². Despite the risk of silting, the archaeological layers attributed to the Middle Neolithic period (Cortaillod) are well preserved. The artefacts and architectural elements have been dated to between 3885 and 3816 BCE. The altitude of this site (610 metres) and its location in a marshy area near a small lake make it unique in the region.

Special Features & Highlights
The relatively high altitude of this Neolithic site and its location indicate that it was a small coastal site. It must have been established near the ancient shore of this small lake. The preservation of the wooden structures and archaeological layer in a humid environment means that it belongs to the series of pile dwelling sites.
