Kurzbeschreibung

The site of Tombola at Cerea is an important example of a pile-dwelling settlement on an ancient waterway. Numerous pottery finds, bronze artefacts and objects in bone were discovered during digs and numerous timbers were identified. The majority were aligned vertical piles, together with horizontal beams and boards that define structures with a squarefloor plan. The archaeological finds indicate a date at end of the Middle Bronze Age and the start of the Late Bronze Age. According to the results of the dendrochronological analysis, the first settlement dates to between 1425 and 1413 BC.
